Demo of how 5G revolution is set to change our lives

Guwahati: An injured man was exposed to a  medical device. His wounded portion was now under the scanner of the device. The crowd sitting there could see the images of the bacteria covering the injured part. This device was the Mobile Artificial Intelligence Enabled Would Infection Assessment. Was it possible a couple of years back? No!!

A lady who had an injury in her feet stood up on an IOT based system for locomotive challenges.  Her joy knew no bounds when she found exactly what needs to be done to her feet from the same machine system. 

A young man was connected to an Mobile IOT ECG Device to check his heart condition. Immediately the device started showing the graph of heart beat to the gathered crowd at the tech City today. 

All these facilities was not available till 5 months ago or during the 3G and 4G regime.

Some of these devices can also be linked through mobile applications.  

So, a revolution in the health sector was visible in the Tech City of Guwahati today. 

The Minister of Development of Northeast Region G. Kishan Reddy virtually inaugurated a 5G experience centre at the Tech City of Guwahati on September 29. It is an application centre that will be inaugurated in the 7 Northeastern states except Arunachal Pradesh. 

The project is in lines of meeting the SDG 2030 targets in Northeast Region. This project is being executed by AMTRON in collaboration with various government agencirs like Minister of DoNER, Department of Telecommunications, Telecom Sector Skill Council , School of Planning and Architechture, New Delhi, Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi Design Innovation Center, UIET, Panjab Universit, ALIMCO, a PSU of Government of India.

The Northeastern region took this lead in providing guidance and coordination.

Funded by NEC the project of 5G application in NRE with its hub at AMTRON Guwahati has been established at the cost of  14.96 crores and is implemented  by Assam Electronics Corporation Limited, Government of Assam. 

The process will help in local Human Resource Capacity Building through 5G labs and Massive open online courses, deployment of locally relevant 5G use cases. The project would showcase on a pilot scale thematic use cases healthcare improved access to Digital Educational Content, Bamboo Content, Bamboo and Cane Artisans and Crafts Persons, and Agricultural Use Cases.

Business Northeast spoke to the Chairman of Assam  Electronics  Development Corporation (AMTRON) Ramendra Narayan Kalita who informed that the service will help poor people a lot.

Palashabri MLA Hemanga Thakuria informed Business Northeast that it is first started in Palashbari Constituency. Later on efforts shall be made to make it available across Assam.

5G claims of higher performance and improved efficiency to empower new user experiences. It aims at connecting new industries as well.

A new user might be thinking that what is 5G all about. In simple words, it is the fifth generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2 G, 3G and 4G networks. 

It is the next is succession after 4G. Prior to that it was 4G replacing 3G.

5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and device.

Compared to 4G, 5G networks has lower latency, higher capacity and increased bandwith. 5G has the capacity to improve the lives of people by entering their lives, work and play across the globe.

The northeastern  states known for its connectivity issues is however has created history in 5G incorporation.
