Guwahati: The World Steel officials estimated that India's crude steel output increased by over 6% annually to 10 million tonnes in June 2022.

India is the only nation that had a rise in its steel production during June, according to figures from the World Steel Association (worldsteel).

According to the most recent estimate from the international industry group, the nation produced 9.4 million tonnes (MT) of crude steel during the same month last year.

India is the second-largest producer of crude steel in the world after China, which produced 90.7 MT in June 2022, a decrease of 3.3% from its output of 93.9 MT in June 2021.
In contrast to the same month in 2021, when output was 7.1 MT, it dropped by 4.2% last month to 6.9 MT in the United States.

Russia, which has been at war with Ukraine, is thought to have produced 5 MT, a decrease of 22.2% from 6.4 MT a year earlier.

The largest decline among the top 10 steel manufacturers was recorded by Russia.

Germany produced 3.2 MT, a 7 percent decrease from the previous year, while South Korea had a 6 percent decline to 5.6 MT.

Brazil's anticipated 2.9 MT crude steel production in June 2022 fell by 6.1%, while Turkey's production of 2.9 MT was down 13.1%.

Iran is thought to have produced 2.2 Mt, a decrease of 10.8%.

Worldsteel, an organisation with members in every significant steel-producing nation, is based in Brussels and represents steel producers, national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research organisations.
