1. Karma Construction has been in the market for quite a few years. What is your company's mission toward building and developing a better society?

It’s been 6-7 years since the inception of Karma Construction. Our company’s mission is to construct safer and smoother roads that are long-lasting and cost-effective. We employ the best quality aggregate, concrete, and asphalt in the industry to accomplish acquired results in the projects undertaken. We utilize our erudition, experience, and expertise in fulfilling our projects in the stipulated time duration as intended. Better quality products employed as raw materials and strict supervision results in best quality output.  Proper drainage and well-built roads are very essential for better living. Simultaneously, a well-constructed road minimizes road hazards and accidents. Our vision is to deliver high-quality output and stand out as a reliable contractor in the industry.  Incorporation of innovation into the field, working with the employees united as a team and achieving our desired goals are the vision and mission of Karma Constructions.   We aim at better road building and drainage/ sewage and thus providing a safer environment for the laborers especially the women laborers.

2. Keeping in eye the current covid scenario, how has it affected your business and what are your implementations to balance the outcome? How did it help to sustain the lives of the employees?

When the pandemic started, life had come to a still. The road projects have been impacted to a greater extent.  Most of the contractual workers shifted back to their native place due to impending lockdown. The Government was unable to sanction and release certain project funds which resulted in a financial crisis and even debts. The situation than was quite stressful. However, to balance the outcome, we had taken up few home construction projects to have running capital for the company and to be able pay off salaries. Somehow, we managed to sail through the hard times together supporting each other.

3. Having a good base in Guwahati, Assam, what’s the team range or how many employees are in overall to manage it?

We are still in the building stage of the company and we are glad that we have been able to create a good base in the region. We have 10-15 employees who are permanently working with Karma Construction. However, during the peak times /seasons, we employ around 200-250 employees for public work. These 200-250 workers are flexible workers depending upon the location to location as well as the feasibility of the workers.

4 . Has  various government schemes been helpful in your regard? Tell us about the projects  you have been involved so far .

Certain schemes have definitely helped us who are willing to work and develop the state. Considering the same, various schemes have opened the doors of opportunities and have helped us in our development. Good and safe roads are fundamental rights of citizens. Roads are the arteries through which the economy pulses. Roads play a vital role in the linkage of producers to markets, workers to jobs, students to school, and patients to the hospitals.  Definitely, it has been very helpful for society and we all are a part of it.

 5. Last but not the least tell us about the upcoming projects and vision of Karma Construction and a message for the youth willing to be in this sector.

The vision of Karma Construction is to become customers’ most preferred choice by attaining excellence in quality and timely completion of value-added projects. We aim to facilitate with the highest level of service in the construction industry while offering superior craftsmanship to every project we handle. We have 2 buildings and 14 roads in the funnel.  Our message to the youth would be ----- ‘Be very hardworking and patient’. Being adaptive to your surroundings is important as well to survive in this field.
