Launch for Miss Universe Meghalaya held at Vivanta, Khyndailad

Shillong: A glittering launch event for Miss Universe Meghalaya was held at Vivanta, Khyndailad, Meghalaya, on May 15.

The event was inaugurated by Tourism and Arts and Culture Minister Paul Lyngdoh, who also served as the chief guest. Federick Roy Kharkongor, commissioner and secretary of arts and culture attended as the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the unveiling of the event's official logo by guest of honour  Federick Roy Kharkongor . The event then featured an introduction to Miss Meghalaya, Glamanand Entertainment Private Limited, and Miss Universe India, presented by the reigning Miss Meghalaya, Stella Khongsni, and Amjad Khan, director of operations and marketing for Miss Universe India.

Chief guest Paul Lyngdoh, unveiled the official crown for the upcoming Miss Universe Meghalaya and highlighted the government's initiatives to support and develop the soft skills of the state's youth, particularly in music and the arts. Dominic Savio has been appointed as the state director for Meghalaya by the Miss Meghalaya Organisation.

"This launch provides a platform for talented girls to launch their careers from their home state, allowing them to explore other avenues for their potential", said an official release. "This event marks a significant step forward in celebrating and promoting the cultural and artistic talents of Meghalaya's youth on both national and international stages."

The Miss Meghalaya organisation orchestrated the event. Special guests included  Amjad Khan, Arshina Sumbul, Miss Grand International India 2023, and Sophiya Singh, Miss Asia Pacific India 2024.
