Manipur, Tripura thrusts on fish production in NE

Agartala: Manipur and Tripura has agreed on a system to augment fish production in northeast.

Manipur Fisheries Minister Dingo Singh made the announcement as a Chief Guest of the event during the opening ceremony of a four-day international conference on Responsible Aquaculture and Sustainable Fisheries Interact (RASHI).
The event was organised by College of Fisheries in Tripura on Tuesday, December 13th.

Minister Dingho Singh emphasized on raising productivity while paying attention to farmers' demands. He talked about conducting need-based research for the Northeast's impoverished farmers and meeting their needs.

The minister also acknowledged the great work done by the Central Agricultural University's College of Fisheries at Lembucherra. Over the past 25 years, the institution has made significant contributions to academic achievement, scientific fisheries research, and academic success.

Prem Kumar Reang, the minister for fisheries in Tripura, and the minister for fisheries in Manipur together launched a fish festival. Prior to the international conference's opening ceremony, this festival was launched. The inaugural session also included participation from Dr. C. Suvarna, Chief Executive of IFS, Krishnadhan Das, MLA of the Bamutia Assembly Constituency, and Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of Central Agricultural University.

The delegates spoke with the members, the majority of whom were from research institutions for fisheries, including farmers and stakeholders. On the grounds of the institution, technology relating to fishing was also demonstrated.

The Manipur Minister also spoke with college faculty members at the College of Fisheries as well as Manipuri students majoring in fisheries science. Additionally, he assured them of every type of fisheries-related growth.

Scientists and experts recently stressed that, in addition to the fundamental measures, new scientific technologies should be employed to increase the state's fish output. This was at the opening session of a series of training modules in Manipur.
