Guwahati: Dr Rumi Borah, a 37-year-old mompreneur, has been working for the empowerment of women.
Borah, an MBA, believes that woman is creative, innovative and able to accomplish self-reliance either by oneself or working together.

A social entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in various fields, such as developmental, media, healthcare, event, entertainment, media & promotion, engineering, information technology, she is associated with a handful of startups from the eastern part of India.

As an entrepreneur, she has vision and skill and is capable of converting vision into action for the good of the society.
Speaking to Business-Northeast, she informed that she is engaged in starting individual or collective income generation programme with the help of self-help group.

She is contributing to the most challenging cause of Women's Entrepreneurship for economic empowerment and independence i.e., " How to sustain your start-up ".

She is also the Editor in Chief of She Business Time, Founder of Janitri (KRB Foundation).

Janitri is a socio-cultural non-profit organization whose mission is to give a forum for all moms and those with a mother's heart from within to interact, empower, and support one another while spreading love and kindness to make the world a better place to live. With a focus on education, healthcare, and women's empowerment, the team at Janitri is on the verge of creating the largest community of happy mothers.

She Business Time is an initiative driven by the qualified consortium to further, nurture and strengthen the Creative & Innovation sector so that we can contribute in the right direction and right growth of the nation.
It, in association with Janitri is working for forward market linkage investing in positive collaboration to grow international business for small women entrepreneurs.

Running three units simultaneously, Rumi is an exceptional women achiever. She is awarded an Honorary Doctorate by By Magic Book for her contribution in the field of Women Empowerment in 2022. She has won exceptional Women of Excellence issued by Women Economic.

Other awards included Exceptional Women of Excellence by WEF, WICCI's Assam State President for Entrepreneurship, Exceptional Women of Excellence Award 2022, Global Choice Award 2022, MSME Social Entrepreneur Nominee 2021, IWA Mompreneurs Award 2021.

Her goal is to empower women to be financially independent to live their dream. This year, they have plans to reach 12,00,000 women this year.

Having a team of 50 plus women entrepreneurs in their team, the organisation started with zero funding. Registered as a non profit organisation as a section 8 company, Rumi actually feels that they are growing gradually.
They, as a team, supports the women entrepreneurs through consulting, mentorship, collaboration.
They support them in each phase of their entrepreneurial journey . Generally, they have 2-3 knowledge session and awareness program in a month.

Additionally, they have reward and recognition to boost their confidence.

They also organize medical camps and educational events to fulfil their overall requirements.

She believes that for a living, they can start any venture.

Non-profit is for those who want to contribute to their cause and give back to the society.

Speaking on her achievements, she feels that she will consider herself successful when 95 percent of women will be able to contribute the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of the country”. Right now, it is only 18 percent. “ So, there is a long way to go”.
