Natural Farming Conclave 2023 begins in Guwahati

Guwahati: The Natural Farming Conclave 2023 was organized by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Assam, at the Shrimanta Shankardeva Kalakshetra in Panjabari, Guwahati, on May 19.

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, inaugurated the event along with Atul Bora, the Cabinet Minister of Agriculture.

The Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

The primary objective of this conclave was to raise awareness about the importance of reducing chemical usage in farming, benefiting both farmers and the environment. Taking inspiration from Gujarat, the event aimed to promote natural farming practices and generate income through the conservation of natural resources.

Among the other notable attendees were Nandita Garlosia, the Assam Cabinet Minister for Power, Mines and Minerals, Cooperation, and Indigenous Tribal Faith and Culture Dept. Jogen Mahanta, the Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Hills Area Development Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, the Commissioner of Agricultural Production; Akash Deep, the State Project Director of ARIAS Society; and Dr. Bidyut Chandra Deka, the Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University.
