Placements in IITG get off to strong start

Guwahati: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), placements for the 2022–2023 academic year got off to a strong start on Thursday with a total of 168 offers issued by 46 businesses, according to the officials. The institute also received the highest domestic offer of Rs. 1.1 crore per year in addition to two proposals from abroad, the largest of which was for Rs 2.4 crore per year.

An IITG officials said that, among the 168 offers were positions for software development engineers, core engineers, UX designers, VLSI, vehicle engineers, analysts, product designers, etc.

Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Google, Uber, Qualcomm, C-DOT, Enphase Energy, Oracle, Nutanix Thoughtspot MTS-2, Squarepoint SDE Quant, American Express, JP Morgan Chase, Bajaj, and Rippling are some of the top employers. Placenients' Tibra, Cobesity, and Sprinkler Platform - Product Phase I is anticipated to last through December 15, according to an institution release.

The industry representatives and the students are eager to meet in person after a two-year absence owing to the Covid-19 outbreak, said Abhishek Kumar, Head of the Center for Career Development at IITG.

In order to communicate one-on-one and provide more room for correct comprehension on both sides of the table, he added, "this gave the employer and potential employee the upper hand."

A total of 1.269 students from various streams have registered for placements for the 2022–23 academic year.

There are 264 firms who have signed up for Phase I of placements and will be hiring for a total of 47 profiles.

Five public sector organisations and as many as 78 startups have enrolled for the recruiting procedure for the current academic year (PSUs). Director of IITG T.G. Sitharam said: "After two years, we are really thrilled to welcome enterprises on the IIT Guwahati campus. In Sessions 1.1 and 1.2 of the placement drive, we tracked advancements. I have no doubt that the institute will achieve new heights with the final results."

The academic year 2022–2023 will see IITG students earn up to 218 pre-placement offers (PPOs), which is the most in the previous four years.
