The product that is being primary used for the manufacturing of this sustainable material is called "chuk" that is obtained from the sugarcane waste- "bagasse" to promote the use of environmentally friendly disposables.

The waste obtained from the sugarcane is a compostable material which after use and produced from renewable resources are considered sustainable disposables. Such materials are environment friendly and turns into a decomposed material in a span of 90 days when thrown off.

India, a nation of 1.3 billion, experiences a variety of challenges in controlling and managing garbage. It produces more than 62 million tonnes of waste yearly, according to a study by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

More than 70% of this is dumped in dumps, which not only pollute the ecosystem, but also seriously endanger the health of those who live nearby.

Single-use plastics are one of the main sources of this garbage. Although India banned single-use plastics in 2016, its efforts to reduce their use have not completely been effective.

Speaking to Business-Northeast, Shyamm Bhhatia, Group Chief Operating Officer of Raajas India Private Limited, said that the product produced from sugarcane refuse is environment friendly with a 0% toxicity rate.
