Retail inflation for industrial workers eases to 5.79% in March: Labor Bureau

New Delhi: The retail inflation for industrial workers decreased to 5.79% in March from 6.16% in February 2023. Food inflation stood at 5.02% compared to 6.13% in February. The All-India CPI-IW for March rose by 0.6 points to 133.3 points, with the fuel & light group contributing the most.

The increase was checked by wheat atta, rice, potato, onion, drumstick, ladyfinger, tomato, grapes, soyabean oil, sunflower oil, mustard oil, cotton seed oil, poultry chicken, and egg-hen.

Ahmedabad recorded the highest increase of 3.3 points, and Salem recorded the maximum decrease of 1.4 points.

The index is compiled for 88 centres and All-India and is released on the last working day of the succeeding month by the Labor Bureau.
