Tractor sales up by 215.75 percent

Guwahati: Tractor sales exclusively reported a 215.75 percent increase in their annual sales.

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the apex national organisation of India's Automobile Retail Industry, has recorded growth in all segments in May 2022. Total retail sales in May 2022 were 16,46,773 units, a 206.78 percent increase over the 5,36,795 units sold in May 2021.

Sales of Tractors grew 215.75 percent year on year, from 16,623 unit retail sales in May 2021 to 52.487 units in the previous month. Tractor sales in May 2020 were 10,193 units, up from 39,438 units in May 2019, indicating a consistent growth in sales despite the country's difficulties during the previous two years.

In May 2022, every tractor OEM reported a YoY increase in retail sales, with only Mahindra selling more than 10,000 units. Mahindra was India's leading tractor manufacturer in May 2022, selling 11.960 units, up from 3,805 units in May 2021. Market share fell to 22.79 percent in the previous month, down from 22.89 percent in May 2021. It also represented a MoM gain in retail sales over the 10,699 units sold in April 2021.

In May 2022, retail sales at Mahindra Swaraj Division were 8,789 units, up from 2.951 units in May 2021. However, the market share has decreased to 16.75 percent from 17.75 percent in May 2021. TAFE Limited was ranked third, with 6,821 units sold in the previous month, an increase from 1,902 units sold in May 2021. The tractor OEM reported a considerable gain in market share year on year to 13 percent in May 2022, up from 11.44 percent the previous year.

In May 2022, International Tractors (Sonalika) retail sales were 6,111 units, up from 2,216 units in May 2021. The company's market share fell from 13.33 percent to 11.64 percent year on year. Escorts came in second with 5,826 unit tractor retail sales in May 2022. This represents an increase from the 1,739 units sold in May 2021. The market share climbed from 10.46 percent in May 2021 to 11.10 percent.
