Dergaon: A loan amount of Rs 12 crore will be disbursed among 1400 unemployed youths of Golaghat district under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in the financial year 2021-22, This includes a sum of Rs 4.46 crore as a government subsidy.

This was stated by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Dr. Sukamal Dev, t a press meet held at Golaghat Circuit House on Monday.

Explaining different schemes and loans to be. provided to the unemployed youths under MSME and the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), he said that under the PMEGP, a maximum of Rs 25 lakh may be granted under the production sector, and Rs 10. lakh in the service sector. In these, government subsidy is given at 35 percent in rural areas and 25 percent in urban areas. The DCEO, who is also in charge of the Northeast, underlined that since 29 percent of GDP of Assam comes from micro, small and medium enterprises, this. the sector must be strengthened.

He revealed that any person who has passed Class VIII and is aged 18 years and above can apply for the loan under KVIC and PMEGP in the link www.kviconline.gov.in/ preapproval, Several scribes interacted with the DCEO in the press meet.
