New Delhi: Zomato, an online food delivery platform, has introduced India's first large order fleet, designed to handle orders for gatherings of up to 50 individuals, primarily for events and parties.

CEO Deepinder Goyal announced the news on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), stating that the new fleet will be all-electric, designed specifically for serving orders for gatherings of up to 50 people.

Goyal explained that previous large orders were fulfilled by multiple delivery partners, leading to a less than satisfactory customer experience. He believes that by introducing new vehicles specifically designed for large orders, Zomato can address most of the challenges customers face when placing such orders, improving their experience on the platform.

The vehicles are still undergoing improvements and development, with Zomato working on adding key features such as cooling compartments and hot boxes with temperature control to ensure all items arrive in the desired condition.

Zomato was recently in the news for its  'pure veg' fleet wearing green uniforms to deliver 'pure-veg' orders, unlike the red uniform that Zomato delivery partners usually wear. The announcement sparked backlash as well as some praise from certain quarters.
