New Delhi: Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal on Wednesday unveiled India's first crowd-supported weather infrastructure ‘Weather Union’ to provide localised, real-time information on key weather parameters.

As per reports, these weather stations, developed by Zomato, provide localised, real-time information on key weather parameters such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, rainfall, etc. Goyal stated that real-time weather data can be used by companies and institutions to boost productivity and the economy. He added that Zomato would make the data publicly available as part of its 'giveback' policy.

He further added that currently 'Weather Union' is available across 45 large cities and will expand in other Indian cities “very soon". As per reports, the “rich data" from these weather stations hold significant potential in unlocking weather use cases for enterprises and research institutes.

In a related development, Zomato hit a 52-week high of Rs 202 earlier this week. In the last year, the stock has gained 203%. Earlier this year, Zomato overtook Paytm and BYJU'S as the most valuable company in the startup ecosystem with a market capitalisation of $15.29 billion.
