A team of specialists in the area of agriculture consisting of Dr. T. Ramanadane, Professor, Dr. Vijayakumar A.G, Seed Production Officer, Dr. Bhojaraja Naik K, Senior Scientist of the Indian Council Agricultural Research (ICAR) - Indian Institute of Seed Science, Dr. C.N Mishra, Senior Scientist of ICAR, Dr. S.P Das, Senior Scientist of ICAR and others have visited Bagma under Gomati District of Tripura.

The Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL) is jointly doing their agricultural activities specially in case of paddy production. It is for the benefit of farmers in compliance with the directions of agricultural specialists.

In accordance with the information from the Project Officer of Seed Village under BAPCL Sanjib Dey, a total of more than 200 farmers in different villages under Tepaniya R.D Block of Gomti District in Tripura are associated in paddy production with suggestions from BAPCL.

According to the suggestions of scientists to BAPCL, there are very good opportunities among farmers who are associated with the organization for quality seed production for paddy. The government needs to be focused on that area of quality seed production in Tripura. It is because the government collects seeds from outside the state to distribute seeds for paddy among farmers. The government seeds are not qualitatively homogeneous in maximum cases. They confirmed that the Government of Tripura might collect paddy seeds from BAPCL. Along with quality seeds, they might get the transportation facility from BAPCL as well.

The farmers are needed to start their farming activities with time owing to getting late for seed collection from government departments.

According to media reports, looking at such problems the specialists suggested that there are possibilities to produce quality seeds but it needs to be considered by the state government in Tripura.
