Dam tourism promoted in Sikkim

Gangtok: An outreach programme was successfully conducted at Teesta V National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Balutar in Sikkim with an objective of Dam tourism within the state.

Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the programme as a Chief Guest.

This initiative aligned with ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. A collaborative endeavour uniting the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the National Dam Safety Authority, Central Water Commission, and NHPC, the event was a testament to collaborative dedication.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the executive engineer SID, CWC followed by a short documentary on ‘Importance of Dam in Water Resource Management’.

CD Rajan, Group General Manager, and project head of Teesta-V Project Station gave a comprehensive presentation on the Teesta-V project highlighting the activities and progress of NHPC Teesta-V Project Station.
