FINER to organise policy dialogue on new industrial policy for NE

Guwahati: The Federation of Industry and Commerce of Northeast Region (FINER) will organise a policy dialogue session under the aegis of the Northeast MP forum to suggest policy parameters for the new North East Industrial policy to accelerate investments in the region.


Members of Parliament from North East, Union Ministers, industry captains, and other stakeholders will deliberate on issues related to new industrial policy for the region. The meeting will be held in New Delhi on December 15.
This is the third such meeting organised by the industrial body to brainstorm on the new industrial policy of the region to accelerate investment as the Northeastern industrial development scheme (NEIDS) will expire by the end of 2022.
According to FINER, the meeting will be headed by the Minister of Law and Justice, Kiren Rijju.


The agenda for the meeting is also to find a path to accelerate industrial infrastructure and manufacturing supply chain from the region. The meeting will also deliberate on the issues related to connectivity and logistics infrastructure in the region. The other objectives of the meeting include how to increase cross-border trade to promote Indian exports.
The industry captains and MPs from the region will also interact on devising a scheme for MSME.

Giving importance to the Gandhian agenda, the interactive session will also discuss on bringing a Swadeshi culture to the northeast.

The meeting will emphasise on developing skilling and capacity building of Northeast entrepreneurs. It will leverage talented youth to commercialize the export potential of NER.
