Brussels: The Indian pavilion at the Salon des Vacances 2023 tourism trade expo featured striking images of the main tourist destinations of Northeast at the Brussels Expo in Belgium from February 2–5, 2023

The Indian pavilion focused on attracting visitors to experience the Northeastern states of the country.

According to a press release from the Indian Embassy in Brussels on Sunday, the India pavilion highlighted the distinctive travel experiences of the region by bringing vibrant visuals and videos depicting the colourful and exotic scenes from the eight Northeastern Indian states under the theme "Paradise Unexplored."

The largest annual tourism trade fair in Belgium, Salon des Vacances or the Brussels Holiday Fair, is in its 64th year this year. It includes businesses engaged in the tourist sector from locales around Europe.

Promotional materials and postcards featuring the splendours of the eight states were on show at the pavilion. According to the embassy announcement, this was the first time the Northeastern region of India was highlighted in a significant tourist event in Brussels, the headquarters of the European Union. It gave inquisitive local visitors a glimpse into this area of India.

Around 22% of foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) to India would come from Western Europe in 2021, making it one of the top three source areas.

The pavilion included images of Meghalaya's waterfalls and living root bridges, Assam's wildlife in Kaziranga National Park, Arunachal Pradesh's snowy Himalayan mountains, the grand castles of Tripura, the lush green valleys of Nagaland and Mizoram, rocky hikes in Sikkim, and the rich flora and fauna of Manipur's Loktak Lake.

Visitors' attention was greatly piqued because many of them were unfamiliar with the northeastern part of India.

Many visitors showed excitement in visiting the area and gathered information on the area as well as the contact information for the various states' travel assistance centres. At the pavilion, representatives from the Indian Embassy in Brussels were available to answer questions and help any interested guests. On each of the four days of the expo, there were furthermore scheduled special yoga sessions for attendees at the pavilion.
