Mechanical Transplanting of Rice inaugurated in Sonitpur District: Assam

Guwahati: On 30th June Wednesday, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Sonitpur district inaugurated a programme of mechanical transplanting of rice (MTPR).

The programme was under the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Sonitpur held at Bhakatgaon under Balipara Development Block.

The programme mainly emphasized on present-day mechanization of farming since the labour was falling short and work was going rather slow due to the shortage.

The DC addressed a small gathering of farmers while explaining the mechanization of farming which is gaining importance these days.
Also, KVK Sonitpur has been praised for its previous efforts due to the implementation of Paddy Transplanter, reaper, and small rice mill through the APART programme that has benefitted the farmers from the district.
Moreover, one of the KVK directors described the benefits received from Custom Hiring Centers (CHC) established under APART at Seunichuk, Jamugurihat.

Dr. Pramod Ch Deka, Prof & Head KBK Sonitpur welcomes the guests and farmers to the programme organized by KVK Sonitpur in collaboration with IRRI, ARIAS Society.
