MoS Kaushal Kishore to extend timeframe of ASCL projects

Guwahati: Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Minister Tawnluia made an appeal to Kaushal Kishore, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Housing & Urban Affairs, for the extension of the Aizawl Smart City Project, which is expected to be finished by March 2023. Tawnluia explained that the project could not be finished within the 5-year deadline because to COVID-19 pandemic constraints.

Further, he asked the Union Minister to provide an extra Rs. 125.35 crores under AMRUT 2.0 or 10% GBS for the completion of RCC buildings and water reservoirs to supply water to the city as well as for the construction of a 10 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant.

Lalrothanga, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aizawl Smart City Limited (ASCL), presented information on the many development projects carried out in Aizawl city, including the installation of CCTV cameras in various city locations, the construction of RCC water reservoirs, sewage systems, and trash management.

The Union Minister expressed his enthusiasm for the orderly traffic in the entire city as well as for Aizawl's cleanliness.

At the Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) in Aizawl, representatives of the State Investment Project Management and Implementation Unit (SIPMIU), Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC), and the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Housing & Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore, interacted with Tawnluia, the Minister of Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation.

The MoS however, promised Tawnluia that he will approach the PM and Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, with a proposal to extend the Aizawl Smart City Project and provide more funding.
