BVFCL

It is to be noted Two types of biofertilizers are being produced in BVFCL, Namrup: Azotobacter & Phosphobactrin. Urea or other nitrogen rich chemical fertilizers are applied to soil to provide nitrogen to the plants. But Plants can’t absorb all the nitrogen content from chemical fertilizers. Azotobacter can fix the remaining nitrogen and supply to the plants. The main ingredient of biofertilizer is bacteria. The mother culture of bacteria is being procured from Assam Agriculture University, Jorhat. From this mother strain, sub culture is being produced.

BVFCL

As told by an official of BVFCL to Business North East, Biofertilizers are organic fertilizers and are required to restore the fertility of the soil.
"Prolonged use of chemical fertilizers degrades the soil and affects crop yield. Biofertilizers, on the other hand, enhance the water holding capacity of the soil and add essential nutrients such as nitrogen, vitamins and proteins, phosphorus to the soil. " The BVFCL official added.
