Sitharaman urges NIIF to capitalise on India's fundamentals for investing

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urged the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) to take advantage of the favourable investment fundamentals in India to expand its operations.

She directed the team to continue talks with investors from nations eager to invest in India as she presided over the fifth meeting of the NIIF's governing council.

The Finance Minister instructed the NIIF team to also look at prospects within the PM GatiShakti, National Infrastructure Corridor, and National Infrastructure Pipeline, which each comprise a sizable pool of investible greenfield and brownfield investment projects.

She likewise requested that NIIF make an effort to attract private investment to such prospects.

The governing council also instructed the National Infrastructure Investment Fund (NIIF) to engage in proactive consulting operations to assist the federal and state governments in building a pipeline of investible PPP projects.
