Tripura eitnesses yourist boom in FY 2024–25; Rs 350 Cr Tourism Projects Underway

AGARTALA: JUNE 17. Tripura’s tourism sector is witnessing a remarkable surge, with over 7.5 lakh domestic tourists visiting the state’s various attractions during the fiscal year 2024–25, generating a revenue of Rs 5.85 crore.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, speaking to Business North East, highlighted that major infrastructural projects worth Rs 350 crore are currently underway to further boost the sector.

 He said that Tlthese initiatives are being implemented with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and under the Swadesh Darshan scheme of the Central Government.

“These projects are aligned with the joint vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha** to transform Tripura into a leading tourism hub in Northeast India,” Chowdhury said.

He informed that the tourism department is focusing on long-term infrastructure development, aimed at enhancing visitor experience and increasing footfall. 

“Once completed in the next two years, these projects are expected to significantly increase the number of tourists visiting Tripura,” the minister added.

Key tourism projects currently under implementation include eco-tourism and Nicco Park in Jirania, development of Chabimura, development of Sonamukhi in Unakoti, construction of 51 Peethas at Bandowar, eco-tourism around Ludhua Tea Garden in Sabroom, Mohanpur eco-tourism, development of Kasba Kalibari, the Fourteen Gods Temple, and eco-tourism at Brahmakunda,” he added. 

Chowdhury noted that a recent review meeting was held to assess the allocated funds and explore additional requirements for the upcoming ventures. 

“We are working tirelessly to ensure the smooth and steady growth of Tripura’s tourism industry,” he said.
