Airtel registers 2.5 million 5G users in the Northeast

Guwahati: Telecommunications giant Bharti Airtel has informed that it now has 2.5 million (or 25 lakh) customers enjoying 5G services in the Northeast and Assam regions, reflecting a promising shift towards next-generation mobile connectivity.

Over the past six months, Airtel has witnessed a remarkable surge in 5G users in Northeast and Assam, the company said, adding that extensive network deployment has effectively expanded services throughout the entire state, simplifying the process for customers to embrace 5G. 

"From iconic landmarks like Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh to tourist hotspots such as Kaziranga National Park in Assam, Airtel's 5G coverage continues to span diverse locations across Northeast and Assam", it said.

Rajnish Verma, CEO-North East and Assam at Bharti Airtel expressed gratitude to customers for their support and emphasised Airtel's commitment to providing a fast, reliable, and cutting-edge network experience."

"The rapid deployment and adoption of 5G in the country can be attributed to various factors, including accelerated network enhancement, increased availability of 5G devices, and strategic collaborations", it said. Airtel's partnership with Chinese company Poco offering affordable 5G smartphones has also contributed to the expansion of its 5G user base. Moreover, retail expansion efforts in the region have further facilitated convenient upgrades to 5G services for customers.
