New Delhi: The central government will slash the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs 100, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on X (formerly Twitter).

"Today, on Women's Day, our Government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by Rs. 100", the Prime Minister said. "This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti (woman power)."

By making cooking gas more affordable, the government aims to support the well-being of families and ensure a healthier environment, the PM said, adding that the initiative is in line with its commitment to empowering women and making their lives easier.

LPG prices in the country are determined by the state-run oil companies and are revised every month. The domestic LPG cylinder price in Guwahati stood at Rs 952 on Friday, as per the financial website Goodreturns. In contrast, an LPG cylinder in New Delhi sold for Rs 903 on the same day.
