Guwahati: MSME industry has established a web of possibilities for today's youth in India. The MSME sector has been elevated in response to this new shift by various Indian states, which has assisted the economy's rapid expansion.
Nearly every state has seen an increase in MSMEs. Assam is one of the states that has witnessed growth of the MSME sector in the past few years.

Mr. Manoj Lundia, Prant President, Laghu Udyog Bharati, Northeast

Laghu Udyog Bharati and Northeast

Manoj Lundia: Laghu Udyog Bharati started its journey in the Northeast region in January 2016 with just 25 individuals. Laghu Udyog Bharati has over 600 participants now, making it one of the biggest national organizations.
Laghu Udyog Bharati is an MSME organization with spaces all over India with around 40,000 to 45,000 various businesses, registered under them.
The NorthEast branch of Laghu Udyog manages the entire area under the able management of Mr. Manoj Lundia, Prant President, Laghu Udyog Bharati, NER. Laghu Udyog takes an avid interest in the nation's policymaking, data, and law from the very beginning. It has played a significant role in the northeastern states' decision-making.

Current plans of Laghu Udyog Bharati in NorthEast including fairs like UDYAM

Manoj Lundia: The term UDYAM show was conceived by Laghu Udyog Bharati.
In Guwahati, Laghu Udyog launched its first program in 2017, which was a vendor development program supporting MSME, which drew a sizable audience as well as various government officials.
Following that, more similar programs were launched with the intention of bridging the MSMEs in the area.A five-day festival called UDYAM was organized in a few Assam regions.
Another one, called the India International Fair UDYAM 2022, was hosted in April 2022 with assistance from the Assam government. It was a four-day festival with over 400 exhibits from all over India, 95 of which were exclusive to Assam.
Our extensive network of Laghu Udyogs allows us to provide the MSMEs in the northern area with hands-on assistance.
We've split the team into different industries, such as food production, agriculture, finance, power, and tea, with a specialist serving as an adviser in each, to make it simpler and more effective.
We have now started a project called Gram & Shilpi Prakosht to assist regional MSMEs in the northeast manufacturing industry by giving them access to markets outside the area. Any local producer in the northeast can join this effort for just Rs. 200.
Gram & Shilpi Prakosht has already added more than 500 businesses.

Development of manufacturing sector in Northeast

Manoj Lundia: MSMEs are a significant force in the northeastern area and presently account for nearly 98% of the manufacturing industry.
The North East, however, is less open to significant marketplaces due to its corner location. However, I think that once ASEAN markets expand, 80% of the people will be drawn to these markets.
In addition, the market here can only grow with the entrance of larger businesses, which will bring with them demands that the MSMEs here can meet.

How challenges are addressed by Laghu Udyog Bharati?

Manoj Lundia: Laghu Udyog serves as a center for all types of material from businesses.
The greater network base offers assistance to those in the area who launch new businesses. Along with the financing, the organization supports and helps to provide a better market to local businesses in collaboration with Amazon, Flipkart, and RBI.

How Laghu Udyog Bharati will engage rural area people?

Manoj Lundia: Production, packing, and branding are lacking in the region. The industry is also very disorganized. However, the bigger markets can now be linked with the rural companies with the implementation of the Gram & Shilpi program. And once the demand and needs are steady, we can organize them well, under our supervision, name them, pack them, and make them accessible all year long without any shortages.

Laghu Udyog Bharati is an organization that represents various kinds of MSMEs in their specific area. It is a forum to handle the problems in support of the state administrations and serve as a center for learning and information for MSMEs.
Also, Laghu Udyog educates the public about new corporate policies, initiatives, and credentials like Zero Effect Zero Defect certificates. Additionally, by assessing the region's potential, we work to maximize its strengths by understanding its main basic materials and transforming it into a marketable product.

ODOP and Laghu Uydyog Bharati

Manoj Lundia: Under the direction of Laghu Udyog Bharati, the One District One Product (ODOP) program was first launched in Rajasthan and later expanded throughout India.
In Assam, it was also put into effect. A stall is provided for one distinctive and significant product from each area to set up in its train terminal for selling.
Initiatives like ODOP offer a platform for showcasing local goods, in more expansive marketplaces while also generating a profit.
